About Nicole Ma
Nicole Ma’s award winning projects include; the documentaries DANCES OF ECSTASY, KURTAL SNAKE SPIRIT and BE HAPPY BE STRONG; the inaugural multi-media exhibitions for the centenary opening of the National Museum of Australia and the blockbuster exhibition YIWARRA KUJU featuring the history of the Canning Stock Route.
Nicole’s New York based film company produced COMBINATION PLATTER (Sundance screenwriting award) and MY FATHER IS COMING; music videos for WHITNEY HOUSTON, SONIC YOUTH, GRACE JONES; and long form concert films for ANNIE LENNOX, MICHAEL BOLTON and the NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL. She was a location manager on MALCOLM X (Spike Lee) and production manager on HAITIAN CORNER (Raoul Peck). Nicole wrote and co-directed the experimental film LIVING ROOMS funded by the New York State Council of the Arts.
PUTUPARRI AND THE RAINMAKERS is a feature length documentary that had its world premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival followed by an international premiere at the Hotdocs Film Festival. It has been nominated for many awards and won Best Film at the 2015 CinefestOz Film Festival.
